Below are some frequently asked questions about the audition process! If you still have questions or concerns,
please contact us at
How do I sign up for auditions?
Visit the Ektaal booth at the Fall Activities Fair to get on our email list for audition information, meet our current members,
and ask any questions. You can also just show up when you are ready to audition!
What do I need to prepare?
The audition process lasts for about ten minutes and consists of warm-up scales, pitch recall, and a blending exercise. You
will be singing your solo after these warm-up exercises, so prepare about 2 minutes (a verse
and chorus) of a song of your choice. If you can beatbox, please show us!
Feel free to sing any genre and/or any language of music! Try to show off your range, musicality,
and any other vocal talents you may have, but most importantly make sure you are comfortable
with the song. You should be able to sing it without using any background tracks.
We will notify you by email if you are invited to callbacks!
If I didn't make it the first time, can I try out again?
Yes! Some of our members tried out more than once before they became a part of the group. We recommend that you email us
for feedback on your audition.
What is the time commitment of being in Ektaal?
We rehearse for 2 hours twice a week, and some weeks may take more than those 6 hours if we have performances, an upcoming concert, extra rehearsals,
and competitions. It is a large time commitment, but that doesn’t mean you won’t have time
for anything else! Many of our members are also heavily involved in other activities.
